Roll Over, Washington: The Demise of The Founders’ Ideals

I’m glad to welcome my friend and medical colleague, Dr Vince G., PhD, CRNP, to my blog, who will be writing here from time to time.  He’s an experienced nursing and medical professional in private practice.  From a religious perspective, he is a Messianic Jew who not only has deep respect for his Jewish heritage but has fervent faith in Yeshua (the Christian “Jesus”) as the Jewish mashiach (Messiah).  I look forward to his contributions to “Once More Around Eternity.”


Something has happened to America.

Not like our country was ever perfect, but there was a time when, at the colonization of this land, small groups of people sought escape from religious persecution, and settled in America.

Many years later, a handful of men wanted to ensure religious freedom and individual rights and thus rebelled against a king that sought to keep them under the thumb of an empire.  These men didn’t all subscribe to the same exact religious belief system, but by all accounts, they had one thing in common: they had a fundamental belief that G-d exists, a belief that He had created man in His image, and that at the very least, we had a duty as a creation to respect and give homage to the Creator.

A Common Belief

The founders of our country declared their common belief in G-d and of a form of government which operates by the will and consent of the people, with these words penned in the Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

These men created a country founded on the principles that people have rights which no government can take away, the freedom to believe and live according to the rights given to them by their Creator, of which only three are written (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness), though there are others which encompass both rights and responsibilities, including to the Creator to live honest and forthrightly, with respect for life, and respect for others (and of course, even this is not the whole list!).

Fast-forward a couple of hundred years, and if we could bring the Pilgrims, Puritans, and our Founding Fathers forward in time to see what we have done with what they built, I think every single one of them would fall over dead instantly.

The change was slow in coming, but it effectively turned our society on its head. People purely selfish, thinking only of themselves, not their “fellow man” first. The infiltration of our society by humanism, the concept that man is the center of the universe. The expulsion of G-d and Judeo-Christian principles upon which our country was founded, from our schools, businesses, and government.

The Demise of Personal Responsibility

The falling away of personal responsibility, people willing to blame others for their troubles, to take (and abuse) assistance from others and from the government, the erosion of personal pride in accomplishment and work ethic. The turning away from G-d, and the worship of self, celebrity, money, power, sex, and other idols. Crime. Hatred. Racism.

At the root of this change (whether or not you choose to believe it), is the free will of man, willing to please oneself, rather than please the Creator. And this will, and willingness to sin, is fueled by Satan, the enemy of G-d, and the enemy of all men. This is human change; societal change in every country and society in the world. While some may called it “human progress”, it’s actually a devolution of where we should be as a people.

The Rise of Godless Liberalism

We can sum this philosophy and way of living into what I have termed “godless liberalism”, an extreme-left ideology, whose adherents intend to root out and destroy any ideology or person that stands in opposition or disagreement with it.

But we can’t ignore the extreme-right ideologies that seek to do the same rooting out and destroying of any ideology or person opposed to the extreme-right. Though they may not qualify for the modern societal definition of “liberalism”, they are what we might term “godless” or “extremist conservatism” because they replace the G-d they claim to worship with an idol.

We’ve seen this in various societies throughout time, one group oppressing another, with no respect for humanity or human rights and liberty, intent on worshiping a man or an idea as god.  From the Romans to the Nazis to the Communists, it seems every era has its godless dictator who will stop at nothing to impose his will upon the populace, to the detriment of societal and individual rights and freedoms which were given to us by G-d. Whether left or right of the traditional political spectrum, both extremes are ungodly and dangerous.

It’s not enough for these people to have their own belief system, which could be respected by others under the spirit of free speech and individual rights to life, liberty, and happiness.

Imposing Their Will

Today’s subscribers to godless liberalism aren’t simply content to live their own philosophy, they feel it necessary to impose their philosophy on every aspect of society, whether or not others agree with it. And if people disagree, they are publicly ridiculed, investigated, hounded and hunted, and if possible, brought down and prosecuted, or even in some cases, murdered for their opposition to the principles of the dictator.

There are several high-profile instances in our country and society in our days that set both godless liberalism and godless extremist conservatism against those who hold traditional, moral belief systems.

In future contributions, Dr Chaim and I will be commenting on a number of these societal errors, since only by publicly exposing the truth and the lies, can everyone live with the true ability to live as our Founding Fathers intended.
