MAGA Fascists Want To Murder The Poor Apostrophe
Donald Trump has done it again.
Donald Trump, the epitome of limited-intelligence and narcissism in the modern-day political arena, has convinced all of his supporters that US president Joe Biden has done the unthinkable: he called Trump supporters “garbage.”
Trump and his fascist followers want to commit murder. Yes, they want to murder… the poor apostrophe.
But I’ll say it proudly: apostrophe’s lives matter.
Say What?
So, let’s look at the heart of the matter – not what some schmo thinks Biden said, or what some Trump insider wants to “claim” he actually “meant”, but what he ACTUALLY SAID:
“Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage. The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter’s — his, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”
Joe Biden, speaking to the group “Voto Latino”
Hearing it is one thing, reading it in print may be another. But understanding comes through a little thing called context. And in the context of this quote, the clarity couldn’t be better if Biden actually spelled every word out individually, burning each letter and punctuation mark in 85-foot-tall letters across the Kansas plains.
Context Is Key
Biden was referring to the speaker’s comment. That would be comedian Tony Hinchcliffe who spoke at Trump’s MAGA rally at Madison Square Garden on October 27, 2024, some 85 years after another fascist group (the German-American Bund) staged a white nationalist, pro-Hitler rally at the same venue.
During Hinchcliffe’s objectively lackluster and predictably un-funny stage appearance (primarily because he literally sucks as a real comedian), he called Puerto Rico a “floating pile of garbage”.
That type of crude, antagonistic eh, garbage, is unfortunately all too typical for Trump and those who support him, particularly when they insist in spreading stupid lies about immigrants eating peoples’ pets.
This makes it all too easy to see how Trump’s brood would easily pick up that ball and run with it, and why they absolutely refuse to concede the context of Biden’s remarks.
Ignoring The Obvious
Naturally, all of his supporters jumped on Biden’s comments as some kind of “proof” that Democrats hate Americans. The loud vocal and social-media screeches came from Trump’s lap dog JD Vance who, let’s remember, was a vehement opponent of Trump until (as I suspect) Trump paid him off. Other wailers include the well-known fake Christians, even faker Republicans, and overall frauds Mike Huckabee, Todd Starnes, and Steve Crowder, all of whom screech either on Facebook or their own media channels.
What all of these shining examples of the dark side of conservatism ignore, is the absolute War and Peace volume of insults, name-calls, and trash-talk that has come from Trump himself since 2015, let alone his crowd of MAGA supporters, worshipers, and thugs.
Literal terabytes of electronic data exist absolutely proving beyond any shadow of doubt or denial, that Trump has said far worse about a number of people, groups, races, countries, etc. Trump is a massive insult machine.
But Trump’s worshipers deliberately ignore all of that, and only focus on things that other people say that’s critical of Trump and his supporters, going so far as ignoring reality by labeling anyone who disagrees with Trump as a “communist” – which clearly shows that they have no idea what communism actually is.
Hypocrisy is a tool of the weak and the insecure. And Trump and all of his supporters are constantly sucking on that tool (British people would understand that reference).
Insulting The Insult
So, sure – mudslinging and trash-talk has been around in American politics for decades. It would stand to reason that even if Biden was specifically insulting Trump supporters by calling them “garbage” instead of what he actually said, such an insult could be considered just another handful of moist dirt being flung in their direction, and they could sling some back. In that case, it would be October 2024, not unlike every other major national election in American history practically since America became a nation.
There’s just one problem with that.
Biden wasn’t insulting the people, he was insulting the insult. There’s a huge difference.
Trick Questions
So the question becomes: which is the real problem?
Is it that Trump’s band of followers eagerly suck up anything he and his influencers say without even so much as questioning a word of it?
Or, is it that Trump and his followers are too intellectually ignorant to understand basic English grammar and usage?
OK, that’s a trick question – it’s both.
The Indictment of Bad Education
The obvious rationale for the first question is, “we’re going to take anything any Democrat says, and twist it around so serve our aims, because we’re spinning everything to make them look bad and Trump look like Jesus Christ.”
And yes, that has been going on since 2015 in the Trump camp, and hasn’t let up one bit.
But the other question is also true. Given the both verified and perceived (through word and action) poor level of intelligence of the average Trump follower, it would logically follow that many of them believe blindly that Biden was insulting them, not the so-called comedian’s comments, because they simply lack the intelligence to understand English grammar and usage, and to discern context.
This in itself is an indictment of their education. But I firmly believe that it’s not that the education offered to them was insufficient for such knowledge; but rather that the education that such people allowed themselves to obtain was wholly insufficient for critical thinking and proper discernment. If they actually chose to learn in school, they would understand what the poor apostrophe does for us.
Much Ado About Nothing
So at the end of the day, this latest “ado about nothing” comes down to a few facts:
- People who are perfectly fine with their man insulting everyone and everything under the sun, continuously, for years;
- People who have no ethical scruples and so deliberately spin anything and everything, real or imagined, to vilify their opponent and deify their man; and
- People who are either too poorly-educated to understand proper English grammar and usage, or economically poorer, making them perfect prey for fascist ideology.
Oh, and a lot of people who choose not to believe that apostrophe marks have rights, too.
This is a witch’s brew of ingredients that make Trump an exact parallel to Adolf Hitler, who similarly insulted anyone and everyone he wished, surrounded himself with amoral and unethical “yes-men” who deified Hitler and vilified the enemies of Nazism, and preyed on the poorly-educated and economically-downcast German population with his hollow promises, promoting fascist principles including extreme isolationist nationalism, racial exceptionalism, racism, antisemitism, and a slowly growing authoritarianism.
One Insult Deserves…
So, when someone compares Trump to Hitler, states that MAGA is a fascist movement, predicts that Trump and his supporters will threaten – and commit – actual physical violence if he doesn’t get his way, these aren’t actual insults. They’re actual facts, borne out of actual facts, actual statements, and actual actions from Trump and his crowd over the last 9 years.
It’s crystal clear that Biden wasn’t actually insulting Trump supporters, and anyone who claims otherwise is either uninformed, deceived, or just plain stupid.
You certainly know the phrase so often reused and used in other patterns, “one good turn deserves another.”
Well, in this case, one insult from Trump deserves another from me:
I love how people call them “Trump supporters.” Considering what an “athletic supporter” is and does, the moniker is apt, because those who love and support Trump are exactly like “supporters” – they’re protecting a sack of nuts surrounding a big dick.
